Tracks - Suntrap, Crush and Melt.

The early line-up included Gareme Gill (vocals), Brian Monger (keyboards/vocals), and Adam Pitt (bass). From 1986 onwards the sound gradually became more song like. Bill Waller joined on guitar and Sally Pitt on backing vocals in 1987. Also in that year a 5 year publishing deal was signed with Peppermint Recordings of London. This resulted in 2 tracks, Slide and Hydra being produced by ex-Squeeze bass player Harry Kakoulli. Nothing else much happened apart from lots of gigs.
In 1989 the band split from Peppermint and changed their sound. Garth Moyle joined on bass, Adam Pitt turned to guitar, and a 'real' drummer, Tim Hall joined. Joe Butt also joined on bass for a while and Les Tropek on congas. Chord heavy piano was merged with distorted guitar and bass. Around this time The Daniel Grade played regularly in Brighton and London, supporting such bands as The Cranberries, The Boo Radleys, Dr.Phibes, Fatima Mansions, New Fast Automatic Daffodils, Five Thirty, and Intastella.
In 1991 a 3 track 12" EP called Pest, which included the tracks Suntrap, Crush and Melt was released on the Brighton label Train of Thought. A distribution deal was obtained through Backs Records, Rough Trade, and Pinnacle. The band split in 1992.
